Time Indexing Products

Time Indexing has a set of products available. The foundation for all timeindexing is a base product, which is the called Time Indexing CORE. There are further products that utilise the CORE, which are domain specific applications.

The Time Indexing CORE provides a framework for building applications that use time as the main method of selecting data. The core product provides a consistent and coherent way of doing precise time-based data storage, selection, and processing.

In a Time Indexing system, data is stored and retrieved using time as a key. All data is stored by recording timestamps for the data, together with the data itself. Data is retrieved by requesting a single data item at a particular time, or by requesting a selection of data items in a specified time interval.

The system can store data of any type and of any size, and can represent times from as small as nanoseconds up to millenia. Applications can choose either to view time as a continuum, or to view time as discrete timestamps.

Using the CORE, it is possible to build applications in various industry sectors, these include:

• multimedia download, for music and video web sites
• manipulation and processing of audio, for call centres
• sensor data logging, for remote sensing
• time-based archiving, for backups or release control
• program testing, for keeping regression test data
