Time Indexing Product Licencing
The licencing model used by Time Indexing is the dual
licence strategy, in which companies
that wish to use or redistribute the software as part
of a commercial product are required
to purchase a commercial licence.
Individuals, companies, academic
institutions, and charities that wish
to evaluate Timeindexing, or utilize Timeindexing
for their own purposes in a
non-commercial context, do not need to
purchase a commercial licence.
This licencing model is
similar to that used by many other
companies that provide software that
can be used in a standalone fashion or
embedded as part of another system.
Commercial licence
A commercial
license must be obtained for the Time Indexing product
in situations which include:
- selling
software that includes Time Indexing to
customers who install the software on
their own machines.
-
selling software
that requires customers to install
Time Indexing themselves on their own
machines.
-
building a hardware system
that includes Time Indexing and selling
that hardware system to customers for
installation at their own locations.
With a commercial license, one license is required per
host computer. There are no
restrictions on the number of
indexes, size of index, number of CPUs, memory or
disks to that one host.
When a organisation buys a commerical
licence they get the right to use
Time Indexing in a commercial context.
The holder of a commercial licence automatically gets
level 1 support.
If this levewl of support in nout enough, then
higher grade support can be purchased.
